BIOGRAPHIES

Jeff Kimmel:
Composer and bass clarinetist Jeff Kimmel has performed with Joe Morris, Allan Chase, Daniel Levin, the Callithumpian Consort and others in many venues in New York, Boston, and Chicago, such as: CAMI Hall, the Stone, the Issue Project Room, Jordan Hall, the Zeitgeist Gallery, and the Artists-at-Large Gallery. He has appeared in concerts produced by the Bowerbird Series in Philadelphia and the MIM Series in Boston. Kimmel holds a B.M. from the New England Conservatory, where he studied composition and improvisation. He currently coordinates the Music Workshop series in Hyde Park, MA.

Kim Cass:
Bassist Kim Cass hails from Maine. He attended New England Conservatory, where he had the opportunity to work with Ran Blake, Joe Maneri, Allan Chase, Ruth Lepson, and George Garzone. While there, he performed with and contributed compositions to Miwokido Kid, which was selected as the 2004-2005 Honors Jazz Quartet, and presented concerts at numerous community organizations. Kim recently performed at the Panama Jazz Festival. He likes flying through the air, cats, sneakers, illustration, and hopes to involve these things in his life and music.

Luther Gray:
Drummer Luther Gray was born March 10, 1972 in New Orleans, LA. His family moved to Washington, D.C. where, as a teenager, he started playing drums in punk rock bands. Though largely self-taught, his musical training involved drum lessons from Kim Martin, Larry Bright, Steve Bagby, and Mickey Newman. In 1995 he graduated the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Music, after which he taught privately and performed in the Washington , D.C. area with, among others, Butch Warren, Cecil Payne, Webster Young, Tsunami, Liquorice, Peter Edelman, Jenny Toomey, Bob Butta, and Buck Hill. Since moving to Boston he has resumed teaching private drum lessons and has played with Joe Morris, Jay Hoggard, Joe McPhee, Timo Shanko, Cameron Brown, Allan Chase, Joseph Daley, Sabir Mateen, Roy Campbell, Ida, Geoff Farina, Andrew White, Rob Brown, Bill Lowe, Greg Abate, Raqib Hassan, Bill Pierce, Mitch Seidman, Steve Swell, Joe Beck, Fred Anderson, Ken Vandermark and many others. In addition to his performing schedule Luther teaches art and music at an after-school program for elementary school children.
